Is This for You?

You might be a good fit if…

Myofascial Release Therapy helps people whose bodies hold onto tension, pain, and restriction that other approaches haven't fully resolved.

  • You carry chronic tightness that never fully releases, no matter how much you stretch
  • You have recurring soreness in the same spots that just won't quit
  • Your range of motion has decreased after surgery, injury, or years of repetitive movement
  • You experience systemic pain from conditions like Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Your body is paying the price for long hours at a desk or computer
  • You have unexplained pain that seems to "travel" or refer to other areas

Fascia says, "I'll support you in that posture," it doesn't know it isn't optimal. It just responds to the conditions it perceives.

That's where MFR comes in, helping your body remember a different way.

The Science (Simply Put)

What is Myofascial Release?

Most massage targets muscles. MFR goes deeper, working with fascia, the connective tissue web that surrounds and connects everything in your body.

Picture fascia as a dewy, fibrous spider web — collagen for strength, elastin for flexibility, and a hyaluronan-rich gel that helps everything glide.

When fascia is healthy, your movements are fluid and efficient. When it becomes restricted, through injury, surgery, dehydration, or even chronic posture, it creates adhesions that cause pain, stiffness, and limited movement that traditional massage can't always reach.

The Treatment

How Myofascial Release Works

Slow, sustained pressure applied to restricted areas activates proprioceptive organs in the muscles, signaling them to release, soften, and elongate. This can reset fascial "memory."

01

Increased Range of Motion

Adhesions and restrictions that limit how your joints and muscles move are gently coaxed to release, restoring your body's natural mobility.

02

Decreased Pain

By addressing trigger points and fascial restrictions, not just surface muscle tension, MFR can relieve pain that other approaches miss, including referred pain.

03

Tissue Rehydration

Restricted fascia impedes the flow of lymphatic fluid. MFR restores that flow, helping your body's waste removal system work efficiently again.

Common Questions

Before you book

How is MFR different from deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue works with muscle. MFR works with the fascial system, the connective tissue that surrounds and connects muscle. It uses slow, sustained pressure rather than intense friction, making it gentler on your nervous system.

How many sessions will I need?

Many notice a shift after one session, but chronic conditions often benefit from a series.

What should I wear?

Wear something you would wear to a PT appointment. Loose clothing that isn't too slippery (like some hiking pants and other tech fabrics) is preferred. You may also choose to disrobe and a sheet will be used to drape areas that are not being treated.

Is Myofascial Release covered by insurance?

I am not contracted with any insurance providers, but will provide you with a receipt for possible reimbursement. A prescription may be required to qualify for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance before your session.

What does a session feel like?

Generally, you will feel a gentle, sustained pressure in the area I'm working. Some people feel warmth, spaciousness, or a sense of lightness in the tissues. There is a wave-like, lava lampy quality to fascial movement that folks usually find incredibly relaxing. Many fall asleep.

Afterward, people often have increased range of motion, decreased pain, and a sense of being deeply relaxed. Some people experience a feeling of post-workout soreness the day after being treated.

Can MFR help if I've already tried other massage?

Yes, especially for clients whose pain has persisted despite traditional massage or PT. It's possible the other treatments weren't specifically targeted enough to the root cause of the issue which may or may not be anywhere near the site of injury or pain.

Following the fascial unwinding helps get us closer to unraveling the mystery in a way that meets your body specifically. Fascia reminds me of TV dog, Lassie, alerting people to a problem and guiding them to the solution.

Ready to Feel the Difference?

Your body has been holding on long enough.

MFR is gentle, non-invasive, and works with your nervous system, not against it. Many clients notice a meaningful shift after just one session.
